Technique

Made with the traditional Ronghua (velvet-flower) technique: mulberry-silk fibres are shaped into two stacked teal-to-lime ginkgo leaves with silver-tone wire edges, hung below an imitation-pearl stud post with a silver-tone textured drop rod.

Cultural Context

The cultural name is 银杏 (Yinxing / Ginkgo), from the supplier pack title 桑蚕丝绒花银杏耳钉. A new-Chinese (xin zhongshi) style stud-drop: pearl stud with two stacked teal-to-lime ginkgo leaves in mulberry-silk Ronghua and a silver-tone drop rod. Distinct from store Jiangshan / Twin Ink / Ink Wash / Twin Purple ginkgo drops (different closure and colourway) and from the Ginkgo Leaf hair clip.
